Syria: State media said Syrian airstrikes faced an “Israeli aggression” on Friday in Hama as reported by state media after enormous sounds of missiles.

Israel has conducted hundreds of airstrikes in recent years against suspected Iranian military deployments in Syria or the transfer of arms to Tehran-backed Lebanese Hezbollah guerrillas.

“Around four o’clock this morning, the Israeli enemy launched an air strike with a barrage of missiles coming from the direction of the Lebanese city of Tripoli, which targets some of the bases around the Haier governor,” Syrian state media One Citing military source said.

“Our air defenses faced enemy missiles and knocked down most of them.”

The Israeli military declined to comment.

In previous statements, Israel has described its Syria attacks as essential to protect its northern front from Iran. (This story is correct to change “stop” to “rescue” in the last paragraph)
