According to a US official, delegates from the Taliban and the United States have held “honest and professional” talks in the capital city of Doha, Qatar, with the two-day talks focusing on security and “terrorism” concerns, the rights of women, and girls as well Evacuations from Afghanistan.

The weekend talks in Doha were the first face-to-face meeting between the two sides since the Taliban took over Afghanistan on 15 August.

“Discussions were honest and professional with the U.S. delegation, who reiterated that the Taliban are being judged on their actions, not just by his words,” Ned Price, a spokesman for the U.S. State Department, said Sunday.
