While the then-President Obrador appeared to downplay the threat of the virus, Sheinbaum advocated for mask-wearing and expanded testing, exhibiting a proactive approach to pandemic management. Furthermore, in a nation plagued by violence, she managed to reduce the murder rate in her city by nearly half, a testament to her commitment to public safety.
