Gal Gadot, the Israeli actress best known for her portrayal of Wonder Woman, shared a deeply personal story on Instagram this Sunday, revealing that she was diagnosed with a massive blood clot in her brain during the eighth month of her pregnancy last February.

The experience, which nearly claimed her life, left the actress with profound gratitude and a message of empowerment for her followers. In her post, Gadot explained how she had been struggling with debilitating headaches for weeks before seeking medical attention.

An MRI revealed the serious condition, and she was rushed to Cedars-Sinai Hospital in Los Angeles for emergency surgery. It was during this critical moment of uncertainty and fear that her daughter, Ori, was born.

Gadot, who had been grappling with the thought of the surgery’s risks, described her daughter’s name, Ori, meaning “my light” in Hebrew, as symbolic.

“Before the surgery, I told [her husband] Jaron [Varsano] that when our daughter arrived, she would be the light waiting for me at the end of this tunnel,” she wrote.

Her poignant words reflected the overwhelming sense of hope and love that guided her through this life-threatening ordeal. Fortunately, thanks to the medical team’s swift action, Gadot’s condition was addressed in time, and she is now fully healed.

She took a moment to express her heartfelt gratitude toward the doctors who saved her life, emphasizing the importance of listening to one’s body and trusting its signals.

The actress also shed light on the medical condition she experienced, explaining that cerebral venous thrombosis (CVT)—a blood clot in the brain—is diagnosed in about 3 in 100,000 pregnant women in their 30s and beyond.

When discovered early, CVT is treatable, and Gadot stressed the significance of early detection. “Sharing this is not meant to frighten anyone but to empower,” she added, urging her followers to prioritize their health.

Gadot’s candid revelation garnered support from across Hollywood, with several celebrities offering their well-wishes in the comments. Sacha Baron Cohen, Gwyneth Paltrow, January Jones, and others, including Gadot’s close friend Noa Tishby, sent their love to the actress.

Gadot, who has an impressive 108 million followers on Instagram, is known for her strong presence on social media and her openness about personal matters.

Ori, Gadot’s fourth daughter with her husband, Jaron Varsano, was born during the height of the actress’s health scare. The couple’s eldest daughter, Alma, recently celebrated her bat mitzvah in November.

Gadot’s family plays a significant role in her life, and her message of resilience and hope resonated deeply, especially as she posted the update during Hanukkah, a holiday symbolizing light and miracles.

Reflecting on her journey, Gadot wrote: “My daughter, Ori, is a constant reminder of resilience, hope, and the strength we carry within. My wish is that we all find our light, experience our own miracles, and continue to advocate for our health and for one another.”

This powerful message is a testament to the actress’s unwavering spirit and dedication to both her health and her family.

As Gadot continues to recover and move forward with her career, including her role in the upcoming live-action Snow White film, her story serves as an inspiring reminder of the importance of resilience in the face of adversity.
