Thousands of Israelis participated in Good Deeds Day 2025, a nationwide initiative promoting volunteerism and community service.
The annual event, organized by Ruach Tova, a nonprofit under the Arison Group, saw an outpouring of goodwill across the country, with participants from all walks of life engaging in diverse humanitarian and environmental projects.
The initiative, launched 19 years ago by businesswoman and philanthropist Shari Arison, has grown into a global movement spanning 115 countries.
“The idea of Good Deeds Day has always been to shine a spotlight on doing good, connecting the circles of good, and amplifying the light in the world,” Arison said.
“I believe that if we think good, speak good, and do good while also maintaining unity, our world will be a better place because only together we can grow the circles of good.”
This year, under the themes “Feels Good to Do Good” and “United in Good,” participants contributed their time and efforts to a variety of causes.
Activities included renovating buildings in northern Israel, assembling and distributing food baskets in the South, and cleaning beaches along the central coast.
Soldiers, youth movement members, students, employees from various businesses, and representatives from hundreds of nonprofit organizations took part, underscoring the event’s inclusive nature.
In addition to hands-on volunteer projects, Good Deeds Day featured Israel’s largest volunteer photography exhibition, Social Lens.
The exhibition, displayed at eight locations nationwide, captured moments of public volunteerism throughout the year, including during times of crisis. The powerful images highlighted the resilience and generosity of Israeli society in supporting those in need.
Further amplifying the event’s message, 20 community gatherings were held under the banner “Amplifying the Light on Good Deeds Day.”
These events emphasized the importance of environmental stewardship, encouraging participants to engage in activities such as tree planting, recycling initiatives, and awareness campaigns to protect natural resources.
Good Deeds Day 2025 was not confined to Israel alone. Around the world, millions of volunteers took part in similar initiatives, reflecting the event’s growing impact on a global scale.
From community cleanups to fundraising efforts for charitable causes, the movement has inspired people of all ages to make a positive difference in their communities.
Ruach Tova, which operates year-round to connect volunteers with organizations in need, emphasized that the spirit of Good Deeds Day should extend beyond a single day of service.
“The real impact comes when people incorporate acts of kindness into their daily lives,” a spokesperson for the organization noted. “Good Deeds Day is a reminder that even small gestures can create meaningful change.”
As the event concluded, participants shared their experiences, many expressing a renewed commitment to ongoing volunteerism.
For many, Good Deeds Day is not just an annual tradition but a catalyst for a culture of giving that continues throughout the year. With the success of the 2025 event, organizers are already looking ahead to expanding their reach and impact in the years to come.
