The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) are set to receive a fleet of 20 state-of-the-art armored ambulances, known as “Tigerbulance,” designed to deliver advanced medical care in the most perilous battlefield conditions.
Developed through a collaboration between Shefer-Bar Industries, a division of the Yossi Ambulance Group, and Israeli defense manufacturer Plasan, these vehicles will provide enhanced protection and medical treatment for injured soldiers, even in the heart of enemy territory.
According to a recent press release, the “Tigerbulance” vehicles are equipped with cutting-edge medical technology and armor, enabling them to evacuate wounded soldiers while still under fire.
The decision to integrate these advanced ambulances into the IDF’s operational fleet follows lessons learned from the ongoing Israel-Hamas conflict, addressing the urgent need for effective evacuation solutions that balance safety, immediate medical intervention, and continued care.
The key objective of the “Tigerbulance” program is to ensure that injured soldiers receive prompt medical attention in a secure environment, directly on the battlefield.
This approach is expected to reduce the severity of injuries and significantly improve survival rates in critical situations.
The armored vehicles will allow medical teams to provide life-saving treatment, such as blood transfusions or advanced resuscitation, even while the convoy remains exposed to ongoing threats.
Omer Sheferbar, CEO of Shefer-Bar, emphasized the meticulous attention to detail in the design of these armored ambulances. “We are in the final stages of outfitting these armored ambulances to the highest standards for the IDF,” Sheferbar said.
“Each vehicle is meticulously tailored to operational needs, with cutting-edge technology, fully protected medical equipment, and rigorous safety and performance standards. Our goal is to deliver high-quality medical care directly in the combat zone, in a secure and protected environment.”
The vehicles are built with IDF-specific requirements in mind, ensuring they meet operational and safety standards unique to the military.
Equipped with advanced medical systems, these ambulances also feature fully protected medical equipment and high-level safety features to minimize risk for both soldiers and medical personnel.
“The ‘Tigerbulance’ vehicles will serve as mobile emergency rooms, offering advanced treatment, efficiency, and peace of mind for our soldiers,” Sheferbar continued. “We are proud to play a key role in this vital mission.”
The decision to develop and deploy the “Tigerbulance” comes at a time when the IDF continues to face increasingly complex challenges on the battlefield.
As combat operations become more intense and the need for rapid medical intervention grows, these vehicles represent a critical innovation in military medical care.
While the specific timeline for the arrival of the 20 armored ambulances is yet to be confirmed, the move is expected to significantly enhance the IDF’s ability to respond quickly and effectively to battlefield injuries, ensuring that soldiers can receive life-saving care without delay.
With their combination of armored protection and sophisticated medical capabilities, the “Tigerbulance” ambulances will offer a new level of medical support for IDF soldiers in combat zones, making a powerful contribution to military operations and enhancing the overall safety and well-being of those on the front lines.
