Turkey Prez: Palestine policy is road barrier against Turkey, Israel ties

Turkey: Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said on Friday that Ankara wants to establish better relations with Israel, but gave the slogan calling the Jewish state policy on Palestine “unacceptable”.

Speaking to reporters, Erdogan also said that Turkey engages with Israel on intelligence levels, but said Israel’s Palestine approach is a “red line” for Ankara.

“Regarding the matter, our dialogue with Israel at the intelligence level has not stopped. It continues,” Erdogan told.

He also said that Turkey faces some trouble with Israel at the top level, and that their bilateral relations could have been “very different” if it had not.

The two countries share a strong trade relationship, but their relationship broke down in recent years, and in 2018 the two countries expelled each other’s messengers.

Ankara has also been critical of the Israeli occupation in the West Bank and the way the Jewish state treated Palestinians.

Erdogan also said that it is “impossible” for Turkey to accept Israel’s policy on Palestine, adding that Israel’s “heartless” actions and stand on Palestine are unacceptable.

The Turkish President said, “It is impossible for us to accept Israel‘s Palestine policies. It is impossible for us to understand Israel’s stand. The Turkish President said that his disinterest is there and his stance on the Palestinian territory is unacceptable.” . ”

Israel has established relations with four Muslim nations this year and on Wednesday said it is working to add another Muslim state to the list.

Earlier, Ankara has criticized Israel’s US brokerage peace agreement with the UAE, Morocco, Sudan and Bahrain this year.
