Two people were injured, one of them seriously wounded in a knife attack a Paris’ Gare Du Nord train station. The suspect was shot dead by the police.
The French police confirmed that the suspect is a 37-year-old Afghan man and that they have launched a terrorism investigation. The man had been living in France since 2017 and had been granted asylum in the country.
The attack occurred around 6:42 a.m in the main hall of the station, where the suspect suddenly took out a knife and began slashing at the people around him. He injured two people and was quickly subdued by the police, who were on the scene within minutes.
The two injured people were taken to hospital, where one of them is in a serious condition. The other person, a woman, suffered minor injuries. The attack has sent shockwaves throughout France and beyond.
President Emmanuel Macron condemned the attack, saying that such violence is unacceptable.
