The Trump administration is pushing ahead with a $1bn weaponry trade to Morocco, a day after the United States declared that Morocco had accepted to normalise diplomatic relations with Israel.

Quoting unnamed sources intimate with the deal, Reuters announced the Trump government sent a piece of information to Congress about the recommended arms sale.

The proposal involves four US-made drones, as well as precision-guided munitions, the sources asserted.

Reuters first reported on the arms deal on Thursday after US President Donald Trump praised the normalisation cooperation within Morocco and Israel.

That arrangement, which was condemned by Palestinian leaders, was relinquished after Washington recognised Morocco’s request to the discussed region of Western Sahara.

Morocco is the fourth Arab country to allow to improve relationships with Israel at the direction of the Trump officials after Bahrain, United Arab Emirates, and Sudan.

The State Department’s report to Congress about the offered arms sale starts the formal processing of the deal, Bloomberg announced on Friday, indicating two sources familiar with the subject.

Bloomberg also announced that the deal involves four drones and laser-guided munitions.

Congress is informed about major global weaponry trade and given a chance to review them before they go into.

Under US weapons export law, members of Congress can endeavour to prevent such exchanges by giving resolutions of disapproval, but sources declared that was not demanded in Morocco’s case.

A recent multibillion-dollar US firearms agreement with the UAE, which began after the Gulf nation signified its own US-brokered normalisation agreement with Israel, was generally condemned by some US legislators who tried to block the sale.
