A series of rocket attacks from Lebanon on Tuesday left multiple individuals wounded and caused damage across northern Israel, amid escalating hostilities between Hezbollah and the Israel Defense Forces (IDF).
The barrage, which saw over 60 rockets fired throughout the day, prompted heightened alerts and retaliatory strikes by the IDF.
The initial wave of approximately 20 rockets was launched early Tuesday morning, targeting central Israel and the northern regions.
Hezbollah quickly claimed responsibility, announcing that its forces aimed at an Iron Dome anti-missile battery near Tel Aviv and the Glilot military base, home to Israel’s Unit 8200 military intelligence headquarters.
While most of the rockets were intercepted by the Iron Dome, one landed in an open area. The impact of the intercepted debris was felt in various places, with bomb disposal teams dispatched to secure the scene in Bnei Brak.
In a subsequent attack, roughly 15 more rockets were fired towards the Upper Galilee region. Some were intercepted, while others fell in open areas.
Interception debris landed in Kibbutz Ma’agan Michael, causing minor injuries to a 53-year-old man and damaging buildings and parked vehicles. The wounded man was evacuated to Hillel Yaffe Medical Center for treatment.
Tensions continued to rise as the afternoon unfolded. A new barrage of approximately 30 rockets was reported by the IDF, with rockets identified crossing from Lebanon into the Upper Galilee and Western Galilee areas.
Several impacts were confirmed, with at least three individuals moderately wounded in Kibbutz Neot Mordechai.
These casualties were evacuated to local hospitals for medical treatment. Additionally, a 32-year-old man from Nahariya sustained light injuries from shrapnel.
A later rocket strike damaged a residential building in Kiryat Yam, northern Israel, further intensifying fears of a potential escalation in violence.
The IDF confirmed that while some of the rockets were intercepted, several managed to strike Israeli territory, leading to the reported injuries and property damage.
Throughout the day, approximately ten rockets were also reported to have crossed into northern Israel from Lebanon around midday, contributing to the overall number of casualties and damages.
Among those affected was a person who sustained light injuries from shrapnel following the midday barrage. The escalation comes amid ongoing hostilities between Israel and Hezbollah, with cross-border rocket fire and airstrikes adding to the tensions.
The IDF has responded to the recent attacks with retaliatory strikes on Hezbollah positions in southern Lebanon. These incidents follow weeks of heightened conflict in the region, which have seen rocket exchanges and skirmishes along the Israel-Lebanon border.
The IDF remains on high alert as it monitors the northern border, prepared for further escalation. Authorities have urged residents in affected areas to stay close to bomb shelters and adhere to safety guidelines.
The situation marks one of the most significant escalations in northern Israel in recent months, with both sides trading fire and the potential for broader conflict looming.
As hostilities continue, the safety of civilians on both sides remains a pressing concern amid the ongoing instability.
