Jerusalem — June 25, 2025: The World Zionist Organization (WZO) has announced the expansion of its “My Home is Your Home” initiative, offering free emergency housing to families whose homes were destroyed in the recent Iranian missile strikes across Israel.
The latest phase of the project follows deadly attacks that left multiple communities in southern and central Israel devastated, including a strike on a shelter in Beersheba on June 24 that killed five people.
The program, launched in the aftermath of the October 7, 2023, Hamas terrorist attacks, originally provided housing to Israelis displaced in the south. Now, in the face of renewed destruction from Iranian missiles, the WZO is once again mobilizing its resources to shelter hundreds more.
Apartments will be allocated to affected families in coordination with local municipalities, social welfare departments, and emergency aid agencies. According to the WZO, all the units made available through this initiative are ready for immediate occupancy.
“This is more than just a housing solution,” said WZO Chairman Yaakov Hagoel. “It is a demonstration of our people’s unity and our shared sense of responsibility—whether here in Israel or in the Diaspora.”
Hagoel credited the overwhelming success of the initiative to the generosity of Jewish apartment owners in Israel and abroad, who responded to his call for help. “The commitment of our brothers and sisters in the Diaspora is tangible proof that we are one people,” he added.
The organization said hundreds of homes have been made available across the country, particularly in central Israel and Jerusalem, where many families are now being relocated. The properties were offered free of charge, and the WZO assumed responsibility for managing and maintaining them under formal agreements with the owners.
The latest Iranian missile barrage, launched in retaliation for American and Israeli strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities, caused significant damage in Beersheba, Ashkelon, and parts of the Negev. In Beersheba, a direct hit on a shelter resulted in the deaths of five civilians, further deepening public fear and displacing dozens of families.
In response, the WZO quickly scaled up its housing efforts to meet the urgent needs. “We are acting swiftly and with compassion to ensure that no family is left without a roof over their head,” said a WZO spokesperson.
The project has been widely praised by Israeli leaders and civil society groups. Welfare officials in affected cities expressed gratitude for the WZO’s logistical coordination and rapid mobilization of support.
Since its inception in 2023, the “My Home is Your Home” program has provided temporary shelter to more than 600 families, initially those displaced by the Hamas attacks. With the recent wave of Iranian aggression, the scope of the initiative has expanded significantly.
As regional tensions continue, Hagoel said the WZO is committed to long-term recovery efforts and stands ready to support any Israeli family affected by the conflict. “This is our moral obligation,” he said. “In times of war and loss, we come together not just to mourn—but to rebuild.”
