In a predawn attack early Wednesday morning, a 50-year-old Israeli man was seriously wounded in a terrorist shooting near Hebron, according to the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) and Magen David Adom (MDA).

The incident occurred between Kiryat Arba and Beit Einun, where a terrorist opened fire on an Israeli vehicle and subsequently attacked the driver, stabbing him in the hand and head.

Initial reports indicate that the terrorist fired at the Israeli vehicle before fleeing the scene. The IDF reported that soldiers chased the assailant and blocked routes in the area to prevent further attacks.

The terrorist, armed with a handgun, had arrived at the bypass route in the Yehuda Brigade area. Upon reaching the bypass, the terrorist targeted an Israeli civilian, opening fire and then exiting his vehicle to stab the victim.

The IDF soldiers on the scene quickly responded, providing the injured civilian with on-site medical treatment. He was then evacuated to a hospital by MDA for further care.

MDA EMT Eli Gertner and MDA paramedics Yaira Vangush and Netanel Yamin posted on X, formerly known as Twitter, detailing their response to the attack.

“When we arrived on the scene, we saw an Israeli car and nearby a conscious 50-year-old man with stab wounds on his upper body, and two young women who were in the car with him, without injuries,” they wrote.

“We provided the injured lifesaving medical treatment and evacuated him to the hospital while he was conscious and in serious condition.”

The wounded man was transported to Shaare Zedek Hospital, where his condition was initially reported as serious. However, hospital officials later announced that his condition had stabilized and he is now considered to be in moderate condition.

The IDF has intensified security measures in the Hebron area following the attack, aiming to locate and apprehend the terrorist. Roadblocks and increased patrols have been implemented to ensure the safety of local residents and prevent further incidents.

This attack comes amid heightened tensions in the region, with Israeli security forces on high alert for potential threats.

The IDF’s swift response underscores the ongoing challenges faced by Israeli authorities in maintaining security and protecting civilians from terrorist activities.

The Hebron area, particularly the route between Kiryat Arba and Beit Einun, has been a flashpoint for violence in recent years, with frequent clashes between Israeli settlers and Palestinian residents.

The presence of IDF soldiers and increased security measures are aimed at mitigating these conflicts and ensuring the safety of all inhabitants.

As the investigation continues, the IDF remains vigilant, working to prevent further attacks and restore a sense of normalcy to the area.

The resilience of the local community and the dedication of Israeli security forces play a crucial role in facing these ongoing threats and maintaining stability in the region.
