The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) confirmed on Friday morning the elimination of Alkaman Abed Elslam Khalil Anbar, a senior member of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad’s Gaza City Brigade, in a targeted airstrike.
According to the IDF, Anbar played a critical role in orchestrating rocket fire towards Israeli territories and was involved in the manufacturing of weapons for the terror group.
Anbar, whose position within the Gaza City Brigade made him a key figure in the group’s military operations, was identified as a major player in the terrorist organization’s rocket attacks on Israel.
The IDF stated that Anbar was responsible for the coordination and execution of fire aimed at Israeli civilian and military targets, contributing significantly to the ongoing security threats from Gaza.
Additionally, the military emphasized his involvement in the production of weapons used by Islamic Jihad operatives to further destabilize the region.
The operation to neutralize Anbar was carried out by the Israeli Air Force, following intelligence gathered by the Israeli Security Agency (Shin Bet).
The IDF revealed that Anbar was targeted alongside other Islamic Jihad militants who were reportedly engaged in launching rockets toward Israel and its military forces at the time of the strike.
The airstrike was part of the IDF’s broader campaign to dismantle terrorist infrastructure in Gaza. In the past few days, the military has focused operations on various locations within the Gaza Strip, including Jabalya, Beit Lahia, and Rafah.
The IDF reported the destruction of a significant amount of weapons and terrorist equipment, including explosive devices and machine guns, in these targeted strikes.
The military has stated that these operations are ongoing and are aimed at reducing the capacity of militant groups operating in the region.
The IDF’s operation marks a continued escalation in the military’s efforts to weaken the infrastructure of groups like Palestinian Islamic Jihad, which have been active in launching rockets into Israel, especially in the wake of the recent intensification of hostilities in the region.
These operations are part of the Israeli government’s broader strategy to safeguard its borders and citizens from persistent rocket attacks originating from Gaza.
In a statement, the IDF reiterated its commitment to acting decisively against those responsible for attacks on Israeli civilians and military personnel.
The military also called on residents of Gaza to distance themselves from areas used by terrorist organizations, as these zones are often targeted in counter-terrorism operations aimed at preventing further violence.
The strike and the ongoing military operations have come amid heightened tensions in the region, as both Israel and Palestinian militant groups engage in a cycle of retaliation.
While the IDF focuses on dismantling the terrorist infrastructure, Palestinian factions continue to fire rockets, prompting a continued state of alert across the border areas.
As Israel moves forward with its military operations, the focus remains on neutralizing key figures like Anbar, who have a direct role in executing attacks against Israeli targets.
However, the conflict remains far from resolution, with both sides bracing for further escalation as the IDF continues its efforts to secure the region.
