Nahariya, Israel – A 13-year-old boy was among those injured in Northern Israel on Sunday afternoon after a barrage of rockets fired by Hezbollah from Lebanon struck the area, prompting widespread rocket sirens and a swift military response from the Israel Defense Forces (IDF).

Magen David Adom (MDA), Israel’s emergency medical service, reported treating the teenager for light blast wounds. He was transported to Galilee Medical Center in Nahariya along with several others experiencing anxiety symptoms.

The incident occurred after Hezbollah launched an estimated 15 projectiles into Israeli territory, the IDF confirmed.

According to the IDF, the rockets either landed in open areas or were intercepted by the Iron Dome defense system.

The barrage triggered rocket sirens across the North between 4:21 p.m. and 4:23 p.m., with the Western Galilee also reporting additional alerts later in the evening.

Drone Interceptions

In a separate attack, Hezbollah launched three drones into Israeli airspace, leading to further sirens in the Western Galilee region. The IDF successfully intercepted all three drones, with the military cautioning residents about potential shrapnel falling from the interceptions.

MDA teams swiftly responded to reports of the strikes, providing aid to those in need and ensuring the injured received prompt medical care.

IDF Retaliatory Strikes

Simultaneously, the Israeli military conducted retaliatory strikes on Hezbollah targets across Lebanon. The Lebanese army reported that two of its soldiers succumbed to their injuries following an Israeli airstrike on a military post in the Hasbaiyya-Mari area of southern Lebanon.

Although the IDF has generally sought to avoid targeting Lebanese army positions, which are often unaffiliated with Hezbollah, incidents of collateral damage have occurred during the heightened tensions. The IDF has yet to issue a statement regarding these specific strikes.

Among the most significant developments was an Israel Air Force (IAF) strike in Dahiyeh, a Hezbollah stronghold in southern Beirut.

The attack reportedly killed Mohammad Afif, the terror organization’s media relations chief, marking a significant blow to Hezbollah’s operational leadership.

Escalating Hostilities

Sunday’s events underscore escalating hostilities between Hezbollah and Israel, with the northern region increasingly bearing the brunt of cross-border violence.

The exchanges come amid broader regional tensions and a complex interplay of political and military dynamics involving Hezbollah, the Lebanese army, and Israel.

Residents in northern cities like Tzfat witnessed smoke trails from intercepted missiles, highlighting the growing threat to civilian areas.

Israeli authorities have urged residents in affected areas to remain vigilant and adhere to safety guidelines, including seeking shelter during sirens. The IDF has reiterated its commitment to protecting Israeli citizens while holding Hezbollah accountable for its actions.

As tensions mount, the situation remains precarious, with both sides locked in a cycle of provocation and retaliation. International observers have expressed concerns over the potential for further escalation in a region already fraught with instability.
