Tel Aviv: Despite significant vaccination coverage in Israel, 40% of new infections are from people vaccinated according to Gabi Barbash, the former director general of the Ministry of Health, who fears the outbreak of the Delta variant.

The mask is back on the streets of Jerusalem after an upsurge in cases of Covid-19 contamination, in part linked to the Delta variant. Israel registers around 100 new cases a day. According to the former director general of health, 40% of them are vaccinated people.

In Israel, however, more than half of the population received their two injections. But, the Delta variant would be 40 to 60% more contagious than the Alpha variant.

According to scientists, massively vaccinating the population is the only solution to limit the development of serious forms in patients, whether or not they are vaccinated. For the past week, Israel has extended its vaccination campaign to adolescents aged 12 to 16.
