An Israeli fighter jet inadvertently dropped munitions on the outskirts of Kibbutz Nir Yitzhak, located along the Gaza border, during an airstrike in the Gaza Strip, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) confirmed on Tuesday.
Thankfully, the incident did not result in any casualties or injuries, and no damage was reported within the kibbutz itself. The munitions fell in the agricultural fields surrounding the kibbutz, not within the community’s residential area.
Kibbutz Nir Yitzhak officials issued a statement confirming that no one was harmed, but they noted that they are in constant communication with military authorities as the situation is being thoroughly investigated.

This accident comes almost exactly a year after a similar incident in southern Israel, where munitions from an IDF fighter jet fell in Yated, a moshav also located near the Gaza border.
The munitions did not explode, and no injuries occurred. In that instance, the IDF quickly responded, securing the area and removing the unexploded ordnance.
The IDF, alongside local authorities, conducted a detailed investigation into the mishap to determine how the munitions were dropped in the first place.
